Project
Calistoga Family Compound
Scope
I+DA brought new life to this wine country family estate through the restoration of existing structures and introduction of thoughtful additions that expand livability and purpose.
New construction introduced a guesthouse with high ceilings and layered natural light fit for reflection, inspiration, and creativity. A simple cabin with a studio layout was transformed into a functional two-bedroom home, with careful attention to retaining storied details of the historical building. A new poolhouse helped create an outdoor oasis for group gatherings or quiet relaxation.
The compound respectfully balances both the past and future, with room to grow as the family’s needs evolve—an expanding framework for life, leisure, and multi-generational living in the heart of wine country.

Salvaging the interior wood panels and repurposing them on the ceiling is a tangible reminder of the family’s history.
The pool house and changing room are a welcome addition to the star attraction of this property.
